Text Box: Text Box: The Marshall County High School Renaissance Team would like to introduce itself to the community. We are a group of students from all different backgrounds that have come together to improve student attendance, the school environment, and the overall school morale. In order to help generate a higher student attendance rate, we have implemented a Renaissance card system with the gracious support of local businesses. As students reach higher and higher levels of student attendance and achievement, they earn cards related to these achievements. So far this Text Box: year, in order to improve the school environment, various Renaissance Team members have painted murals on the inner walls of the school. These murals include two full-color, five foot high replicas of the MCHS school crest, as well as a six foot tall rendition of the MCHS Alma Mater, and a giant twelve foot by twelve foot “M.” There are also various inspirational messages painted around the school, such as “Believe, Strive, Achieve” and “Dream.” Text Box: Renaissance action team Text Box: Principal’s message-Jacob Sorrells Text Box: The school year is now well under way and MCHS is off to a good start. I have made some changes this year to try to improve instructional time. We now have homeroom only on an as needed basis. I also moved this time to after lunch in order to enhance 1st & 2nd blocks. Our lunch schedule was also changed to allow time Text Box: for our Algebra I interventions as well as interventions in other classes. Because of our teachers’ efforts and this program we saw tremendous gains last year in Algebra I. I believe this program is more important than ever with the new more rigorous standards being implemented by the state this year. We are Text Box: currently waiting on funds to be approved by the state to begin our before and after school tutoring. We are ready to begin as soon as the funding is approved. I, along with our faculty, appreciate all of your help and support.
